Adaptation Week [Event Report]

Adaptation Week took place from 28 September to 2 October 2026; it was organised for students arriving on short-term exchange programmes and for international undergraduates and PhD students commencing their studies at the University of Opole in the 2026/2027 academic year. This event provided an opportunity to familiarise oneself with basic information about the university and to discover Opole’s cultural heritage.

On the first day, the Official Opening of the event took place, during which essential information that every student should know was presented: the structure of the University, useful links, the main offices, and the Welcome Point. The USOS system and how to navigate it were also presented, along with useful information about life in Opole, the Buddy Mentor programme, a cultural event organised by the Office for Research and Project Management (BNiOP) together with the schedule of events for this semester, as well as the BNiOP website and the Instagram account @hello_uni_opole. Later, the exchange students stayed on to take part in a Q&A session on the Learning Agreement, course selection, etc. The day ended with a visit to the University of Opole Museum and the Upper Castle.

The following day began with a tour of the Museum of Polish Song, where students were able to learn more about the history of Polish music and experience the atmosphere of its capital. Afterwards, in smaller groups and whilst still immersed in the atmosphere of old Opole, the students visited the Tenement House, this time travelling back in time to discover the living conditions of the residents of that era.

Day three, on the other hand, was mainly devoted to workshops on equal treatment. The students also had the opportunity to take part in the university’s Orientation Day and discover the full range of opportunities for getting involved in university life.

Thursday passed in a relaxed atmosphere during a cruise along the picturesque River Oder, offering a completely different perspective on Opole’s landscape. We then moved on to the animal kingdom during a leisurely afternoon stroll through the zoo.

We rounded off Orientation Week with a ‘Speedmeeting’ full of meaningful conversations and new friendships, followed by a karaoke session which helped to strengthen the bonds formed throughout the week.

For the participants, taking part in the Adaptation Week provided an opportunity to get to know Opole in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, whilst also allowing them to make new friends in a place and environment that was completely new to them.

What’s more, thanks to Seta TV, we can share this event – which was full of new experiences – with you and relive the memories ourselves.
